How to choose the right food for your dog?

The use of a complete food specific for the life stage of the animal has many benefits. In addition to providing complete nutrition, with all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals required daily, a good formulation counts on sources of quality protein, providing greater digestibility, thus reducing the volume of feces and also aiding in maintaining the musculature. The supply of omega 3 helps to maintain the immunity up to date, reducing the risk of diseases and the omega 6 assists in the maintenance of a skin and coat strong and beautiful; as well as antioxidants such as zinc, selenium, vitamins A and E, which ensure health and longevity for pets.

One should always take into account some factors to define the best food.

Growing dogs need a greater supply of protein, as they are developing muscle mass, skin and coat, and greater availability of energy, to ensure the health and disposition of the puppies.

It is very important to note that the period that the dog should consume food for puppies is directly proportional to the size of the dog, for example, small size up to 12 months and large size up to 18 months. Puppy food should also be indicated for females in the last 3 weeks of gestation and throughout the lactation phase as it provides all the protein, energy, vitamins and minerals needed for the mother and the baby.

As adults, the selection by size is important, where dogs up to 12kg on average receive a food with shape and size of grains that facilitates chewing (specific food for small dogs), as well as special care in the formulation, such as prebiotics and Yucca, which act in the intestine stimulating the absorption of nutrients and the decrease of the odor of feces.
